Language of Complexity

To understand complexity in organizational ecosystems, we use the Language and Visual Grammar of Complexity to establish a shared understanding of key terms and definitions. The Ecosystem Development Framework (EDF) extends this language by adding a visual grammar of symbolic representations to present complex concepts in a more easily understandable way. The symbols used in the EDF represent concepts in complexity science as they appear within the organization. The purpose of visualizing complexity is to more quickly and effectively explain and demonstrate complex conditions for shared recognition and coordinated action.
